UPHOLSTERY

UPHOLSTERY and RE-UPHOLSTERY

We offer a bespoke upholstery service offering customers a chance to have exactly the right size, shape and colour of sofas or chairs that are not possible to find on the high street.

Good Quality Furniture requires a Good Quality Hardwood Frame

Our frames are made of hardwood, normally Beech, which will last for many years, and of course can be recovered again and again over the years. All the joints are glued, screwed and dowelled. In contrast, much of the upholstery sold today is imported from the Far East and Eastern Europe and a lot of this is cheaply made using chipboard and softwood and is held together by staples.

Value

Our sofas and chairs are good value for money. Our prices are less than would be paid on the high street for items of the same high quality. We have thousands of fabrics from which to choose, many of which are specifically designed for upholstery, so their quality, wearablity and appearance are excellent. With modern technology, many of these fabrics have stain repellents or are even cleanable just with water, which means your sofas stay looking good for longer.

Re-Upholstery
When customers visit the showroom to ask about us making a new sofa or chair for them, we always ask "Why, what's wrong with the old one?" Often the reply is that it is "very old" and looking "very tatty". We're often doing ourselves out of a new sofa sale when we say that more often than not, if the frame is basically sound (which an old one would be if it hasn't broken or fallen to pieces), then they ought to consider re-upholstery. After all, they've already paid for the frame, springs, webbing, foams and fibres, etc - all they have to pay for with a recover is the new fabric and the labour cost (and perhaps some new seat cushions if necessary). Of course if the actual shape or size is wrong then a recover won't work - and that's were our bespoke service comes in. Even if things look broken, just ask the question and we'll give an honest opinion.
